So...i've been a little under it lately.
I've realised that I'm not really living for anything - and as my best friend's favourite movie exhorts...."better get busy living, or get busy dying." Since dying is a little premature, I think I'd better get living!

So I've been getting up just that much earlier most mornings..to spend some time reading the Bible and thinking, praying.

I've been led to Thessalonians. Interesting - really challenging and timely.

Couple things have stood out - Vs3. "We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. "
Pretty neat.
Firstly, often we wait for the 'word' of the Lord before we work or labour. I think that's wise, don't get me wrong. Paul seems to be saying here, though, that our work, if motivated by love and faith is worth doing, and worth giving thanks for. That's encouraging. I've always been one to struggle with balance anyway. I figure when I hit heaven, I want my tank to be on empty. I want to expend myself for the Kingdom and for my family. Something I'm not always good at! When you think about it, movement actually requires you to be out of balance, physically speaking.
The second thing that stands out is that we need to be inspired by hope because labour and work often suck. Even when they are motivated from faith and love, labour and work are not vacation. So we need to hang out to hope.

Verse 5 then says - "because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction." Man I long for that power and conviction. I find myself lacking that conviction these days.

All this has made me realise that I lack real self-discipline. I think it is one of my weakest areas.
So, I'm going to try and do something to discipline myself in little ways.

1. I'm going to try and blog something every day. Really i just use my blog as a journal, so I want to journal every day. Starting today.

That's it.

Hey - incidentally check out Thessaloniki - pretty neat spot.
